• Some say the glass is half full, some say the glass is half empty. Whether you’re an optimist or a pessimist one thing is for sure– if the glass is chipped, a trip to the Glass Man is in order!
The Glass Man, aka Ronald Day, specializes in crystal and antique glass repair and has been a wonderful and much needed addition to the Hoosier Antiques Exposition. Ron and his wife, Shirley, can be found there April 13th through the 15th during the annual spring Supershow.
Some repairs can be made while you browse. Others may require a trip back to the shop in Bryan, Texas. Pieces that do need to make the journey south can either be returned to their owners, or the pieces can be shipped back to those who would rather not wait. The former method is generally preferred due to the obvious risk of shipping glass.
The Days can generally provide estimates once the damaged pieces are visually examined, and they are adept at repairing punch bowls, fitting stoppers to bottles and trimming and restoring vases and bowls. Bonding broken parts, carving and reshaping of animals and birds and grinding, smoothing and polishing stemware are among other services they provide.
